The L293D is a popular dual H-Bridge motor driver integrated circuit designed to drive DC motors, stepper motors, relays, and inductive loads from microcontrollers and digital circuits. It allows low-current control devices such as Arduino, ESP32, PIC, AVR, STM32, and Raspberry Pi to control higher-current motors safely and efficiently.
Featuring built-in protection diodes, the L293D can independently control the direction and speed of two DC motors simultaneously or drive a single bipolar stepper motor. Its ease of use, reliability, and compatibility with numerous development platforms make it one of the most widely used motor driver ICs in robotics, automation, educational projects, and embedded systems.
